Two sites, two companies

Silver Senior Dating vs SilverSingles

The names sound alike, and plenty of people mix them up. Here is a plain account of who runs each one, what you can do on them, and where they operate in 2026.

No, they are not the same. Silver Senior Dating and SilverSingles are separate sites run by different companies. SilverSingles is now run by SuccessfulMatch, a North American firm. Its separate UK website no longer works, and it now runs from one main site with pages aimed at the UK, Australia and Canada. We are a senior dating community with members in all seven of the countries we serve.

If you searched for "silver singles" and landed here, you are far from the first. Here are the two sites side by side, fairly: SilverSingles does some things well, and we say so.

Is SilverSingles the same as Silver Senior Dating?

No. The companies are unrelated, with separate members and separate logins, so an account on one will not open the other.

SilverSingles spent years under Spark Networks. Spark's German company went into insolvency proceedings in early 2026, and SilverSingles is now run by SuccessfulMatch. We found no public word on whether older accounts moved across, so past members should contact SilverSingles directly.

Who each site suits best

SilverSingles only accepts people aged 50 and over, which gives it a clearly defined crowd. Silver Senior Dating is open to any adult but built around later life: most members are in their late fifties, sixties and seventies, and the over-65s are our largest group. You set the age range you want to see.

How does SilverSingles work?

Today's SilverSingles is built around browsing. You swipe through profile cards, filter by what matters to you and send likes; when two people like each other, it becomes a match and you can talk. Paying members get curated daily matches, priority recommendations and more filters. The older SilverSingles was known for a long personality test, but the current site no longer describes one.

Here, you say what you are looking for and choose your age range and distance, and each day the site suggests people who fit your interests and lifestyle. You can also post updates, comment on members' posts and join polls, an easier way in for shy writers. Our features page has the detail.

Is SilverSingles free?

Joining SilverSingles costs nothing, and a free account lets you build a profile, browse and see suggested matches. Talking to people properly needs its paid membership, Silver Select, which adds private messaging, voice and video calls and more privacy settings.

Silver Senior Dating is free to join too. Free members can send a set number of messages a day and reply to anything a VIP member sends; unlimited messaging comes with VIP. See our pricing page.

Safety, verification and fake profiles

This is where SilverSingles has a real strength. Its help pages say members must pass a selfie video check against their photos before their profile can be seen. Many people like that firmness. SilverSingles is open that the check confirms a face, not a person's intentions.

We take a different route. Our ID check is free and optional and earns a Verified badge, and there is a short video check with a moderator that needs no documents. Human moderators and AI watch for scam behaviour, and the site warns you if someone pushes to move you onto WhatsApp. Our safety guide explains how to spot and report a fake.

Is SilverSingles still running in the UK and Australia?

The separate UK website SilverSingles used for years no longer loads. SilverSingles does still run its main site from North America, and that site carries pages aimed at singles in the UK, Australia and Canada. Its Australian and Canadian web addresses now forward to it. We found nothing aimed specifically at New Zealand, South Africa or Ireland.

Australia is our largest community, with members in every state, and we have members in all six of the other countries too. See senior dating in Australia or in the UK.

Dating on your phone

SilverSingles has apps for iPhone and Android, with one login across app and website, a plus if you like store apps. We work in the browser on any device, and you can pin us to your home screen so we open like an app. Our phone guide shows how.

When SilverSingles might suit you better

Choose SilverSingles if you like the sound of its required selfie video check, only want to meet over-50s, or prefer a downloaded app. Choose us if you want a warm, mostly over-55 crowd with a strong Australian presence, a free ID badge, and posts and polls to break the ice.
